Recently, a fairly prominent and upcoming politician asked the following question: “What issue do you care most about at the start of 2025?”
She gave following four issues that I assume were most important to her as possible choices.
- Southern Border
- Inflation
- Government Spending
- Crime
As of this blog post, 2,811 votes were cast with 55.9% going to the Southern Border, 20.7% to Government Spending, 17.5% to Inflation, and amazingly only 5.9% to Crime.
Of course, several wrote in their particular concerns ranging from corruption in government to legalization of marijuana.
My piece of participation that no one liked, disliked, or even commented on dealt with the spiritual health of the country. I wrote,
[T]he nation is dying from unrepentant sin. There is an outward veneer of religiosity, but it is totally powerless, with an overall lack of the fear of God. Too many are under the delusion that a “Golden Age” is coming, while ignoring the apostasy that is rife.
As I sit, listen, and watch what is going on in the world, and how many people are clamoring for the “issues” to be resolved, I cannot help but think that as long as we continue to ignore the spiritual elephant in the room that is sickly, if not nigh unto death, then supposedly solving the “issues” will only contribute to the country’s final demise.
It will lead to a false sense of security, whereby people will continue to believe in the worldly ideas that as long as the border is secure, prices of goods are low, the U.S. debt is under control, and criminality is manageable, then all things will be just fine.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Jesus said, “Repent! For the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matt 3:2) and “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?” (Matt 16:26).
A person’s spiritual walk with God is more important than anything in his life.
In fact, eternity is a heart beat away for every living human being.
Yet, fewer and fewer Americans, at least, are even ready for that spiritual journey, mainly because they are so fixated on worldliness.
Perhaps, that is why no one cared to even respond to what I wrote.
We’re more spiritually dead than can even be imagined.
