A Warrant for My Arrest

Paul Derengowski, ThM

As I sit here typing this last blog entry, perhaps for some time to come, I reflect back on what could have gone wrong.

Faithfully, my wife and I have paid our taxes, as we attempt to lawfully live our lives to the best of our ability, serving God and country.

Yet, apparently something went awry back in 2015 and 2016, and today I have been notified that I could be serving three years in prison for tax fraud and failure to pay $5,396.25 in back taxes.

Treasury Department Office building

The Treasury Department office at 11327 S. Garnett Rd. in Broken Arrow, OK, from where the agent called me.

Treasury Department agent “Jack Miller,” badge number 10549, called me from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (918-397-9110) about 11:00 a.m. this morning to inform me of the dire news.

Case No. HR15397 was being handed over to the local sheriff’s department and a deputy was being dispatched to have me arrested on an outstanding warrant.

There were no other options. I had willfully and intentionally avoided IRS attempts to contact me, including written notices personally delivered to my mailbox by IRS agents themselves.

Hopefully, things will work themselves out. How I will be able to pay the $75,000 penalty, I am not sure.

Here is the recording of our conversation.

Perhaps I can interest you in some beachfront property in Iowa before I am taken into custody.
