Throughout history Christian churches has demonstrated a wide variety of characteristics, with some good and some bad. Previously, it was observed in the study of the Book of Revelation that the Ephesian church was quite orthodox, while also losing its love for God along the way to orthodoxy. The Church at Smyrna was a persecuted church and despite the Roman government’s harassment, stay true to its convictions. In this episode, Dr. Paul looks at the Church at Pergamum, which had compromised itself by teaching heresy and acting in a heavy-handed fashion by lording it over its congregants. The dire warning, as it is for all who claim the name of Jesus Christ as their Savior, is to “repent” or else.
