Juneteenth Revisionist Nonsense

As I mentioned yesterday, today is the big, new, Socialist endeavor to turn a rather obscure, if not menial, day in history into an opportunity to revise history and push an un-American agenda.

It is Juneteenth!

Now, if you were to ask the average person just what Juneteenth is all about, most would not have a clue.

In fact, of the four history texts that I have, three of which would be considered collegiate level reading, only one of them, Lone Star by T.R. Fehrenbach, even mentions Juneteenth.

And just why is that?

Because until 2021, when senile Joe Biden signed a declaration turning it into a federal holiday, it was not that big of a deal.

Even in Fehrenbach’s book, which is 767 pages of Texas history, only one brief paragraph is set aside to describe what Juneteeth was about. He wrote,

On June 19, 1865, General Gordon Granger of the Union Army landed in Texas. At Galveston he proclaimed, in the name of President Johnson, that the authority of the United States over Texas was restored, that all acts of the Confederacy were null and void, and that the slaves were free. This was the historic “Juneteenth,” afterward celebrated by Texas Negroes as Emancipation Day.

That came two and a half years after Abraham Lincoln had signed the Emancipation Proclamation. as well as the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution in January 1865.

The latter was later ratified in December 1865, and it read as follows:

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Juneteenth, in other words, was simply a late notice to the Negroes in Texas that their days as slaves was over; nothing more, nothing less.

So, why all the hubbub today over something that barely makes notice, if at all, in fairly prominent history texts?

As has been the tactic of Leftist radicals, Communists, Socialists, and Marxists over the years, and especially most recently, they take obscure events like Juneteenth and blow them out of proportion, not to clarify history, but to distort it with their particular brands of propaganda designed to push their agendas.

It was what the whole Black Lives Matter nonsense was all about, as well as the charades involving Michael Brown, George Floyd, and DEI.

Consider an article that appears on the Communist Party USA website that addresses Juneteenth and the “Celebration and ongoing struggle.

After giving a few cursory comments about the historical background for Juneteenth, in comes the Communist propaganda.

  • Texas is still a white supremacist state
  • Texas distorts democracy
  • Texas restricts a woman’s right to abortion
  • The Thirteenth Amendment still condones slavery by punishing criminals
  • Wage slavery is rampant; Capitalists, as the new KKK, controls people
  • Millions of people need health care and a living wage

Probably the most glaring evidence that the whole Juneteenth “celebration” is being used by the Marxist-Communist-Socialist is found in the comment,

The obscene maldistribution of wealth today, where individuals have more than entire countries, proves the centrality of capitalist exploitation and wage enslavement in our economy and society. Billionaires don’t deserve their wealth; they steal it by privatizing the social profits of workers’ labor.

You see, the Marxist-Communist-Socialist crowd ultimately wants total control over everyone’s wealth, everyone’s property, and everyone’s person, regardless of skin color, race, or ethnic origin.

It was part of the reason why Joe Biden had no problem signing into law something that had nothing to do with the federal government and making Juneteenth an unholy day, since he had no problem taking American’s wealth and redistributing it to the rest of the world, so long as he received his ten percent.

Of course, if you manage to point out the obvious departure from history and then expose the Communist, racist bigotry inherent in the revised version of Juneteenth, your commentary is either deemed in conflict with “Community Guidelines” or you are demonized as a racist, a homophobe, a white supremacist, or whatever happens to be wafting through the minds of those casting the epithets.

Regardless, the facts speak for themselves.

Juneteenth is not what the Leftist media and ignoramuses in the Communist Party USA have turned it into.

Not only should it be scrapped from the list of national “holy days,” as there is nothing holy about it, those pushing the revisionist history should be called out and embarrassed into silence for their deceit.

As Fehrenbach wrote in his foreword to the 2000 edition of Lone Star,

As a construct, history is too often revised to match contemporary views. It has been said that each generation must rewrite history in order to understand it. The opposite is true. Moderns revise history to make it palatable, not to understand it. Those who edit “history” to popular taste each decade will never understand the past   ̶ neither the horrors nor glories of which the human race is equally capable   ̶ and for that reason, they will fail to understand themselves.

Such is what has happened with Juneteenth.

It has been revised in the worst of possible ways, and those using the day to advance what they falsely assume is abolishment of what they perceive are extensions of the old, slave days are actually promoting a “new” kind of slavery in the form of Marxist-Socialist-Communism.
