The Apathetic Church at Laodicea

One of the characteristics of New Testament churches, perhaps even more so during the last days prior to the return of Jesus Christ, will be how lackadaisical they will be or will become. John the beloved points this out in the Book of Revelation. Apathy, though, does not please God. In fact, it makes Him sick; sick to the point of vomiting such churches out of His mouth, which is an unusual expression to describe just how full of contempt God gets towards congregations that become so complacent that they believe that have it all, when they have nothing. That said, God still invites such churches to repent, even though His patience will eventually run out, as is evidenced by the fact that the Laodicean church has long since been deserted. Jesus’s message given through John is a dire warning that many contemporary churches fail to heed.
