UFOs in God’s Created Order

Before answering the question of where UFOs fit into God’s created order it must be pointed out that aside from God’s presence in the universe, there are other intelligent creatures beside human beings that God created, which makes humanity less than lonely in the vastness of space.

Those creatures are angels or what are sometimes mentioned as the “host of heaven,” depending on the biblical context in which the term is used (1 Kg 22:19; 2 Chr 18:18; Neh 9:6; Ps 33:6; 80:14; 103:21; Isa 24:21; 37:16; 45:12).

Elsewhere, the “host of heaven” is associated with stars in the universe, and the stars become interchangeable with the angels, which are seen as an innumerable army (Ps 103:20-21; Heb 12:22; Dan 7:10 cf. Rev 5:11) over which the God of Israel is its General (1 Sam 17:45).

It is unknown when the angels were created, except by deduction it must have taken place during the first six days of creation.

Otherwise, angels would exist outside of finite time, thereby making them infinite, like God is, which is wholly contrary to the teaching of the Bible that makes it clear that only God is infinite in His existence.

“Great is our Lord,” wrote the Psalmist, “and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure” [emphasis added] (Ps 147:5 cf. Job 11:7-10; Mt 5:48).

That said, the angelic realm is divided between holy angels and evil angels, the latter of which are also known as demons.

There are “myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands” of angels (Rev 5:11), some serving before the throne of God, in heaven, with others attending to human beings in one capacity or another (Lk 16:22; Heb 1:14).

Evil angels or demons were once a part of the heavenly throng, as holy angels, but because of their rebellion against God, one-third of the original “host” now follows the Devil or Satan (Rev 12:4) as the lead rebel (Isa 14:12-ff; Ezek 28:13-17).

Although most people imagine demons as disgusting in appearance and violent in their actions, the Bible makes it clear that “Satan disguises himself as an angel of light,” as well as do his minions, acting as “servants of righteousness” (2 Cor 11:14).

Light and righteousness are synonymous with God, Jesus, and the Bible.

“This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness” (1 Jn 1:5, 7 cf Rev 22:5).

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (Jn 8:12 cf 12:35).

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Ps 119:105 cf 2 Pet 1:19).

Deception, in other words, is the modus operandi of the demonic realm, as they attempt to trick human beings into believing and/or accepting their message of “light,” which attempts to mimic God, Jesus, or the Bible.

All of this is to say, given the presence of Satan and his demons in the world, once again, humans have plenty of company; humans are hardly alone in the universe, even though certain of their neighbors are not exactly the most amiable of characters.

When we turn to the subject of UFOs and God’s created order, then they must fall within either the human or angelic categories.

If they are of human origin, then they can be explained as natural phenomenon; they are not from a distant planet, nor are they some kind of superhuman race that has evolved into a near godlike status, as some would hope.

They are fallen human beings, even though they possess exceptional intellects that allow them to wow the crowds with their antics.

Conversely, if they are from the angelic realm, they must fall within either the holy or evil categories.

Holy angels do not act in the capricious manner that is often associated with UFO sightings.

“Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! Bless the Lord, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will!” (Ps 103:20-21).

Moreover, holy angels do not require some kind of space vehicle to get around, as they are extra-dimensional, with some possessing wings (Ex 25:20; 1 Kg 6:24; Isa 6:2; Ezek 10:5, 8) that help to facilitate their flight (2 Sam 22:11; Ps 18:10; Ezek 10:16, 19).

On the other hand, the demons, acting as “angels of light,” are capricious in their actions, and may use or seem to use some kind of space vehicle to get around, if for no other reason than to deceive those who observe them into believing they are some kind of extra-terrestrial from a distant galaxy.

Demons are also under the sovereign control of Almighty God and are not allowed to act contrary His will, unless He ordains their actions with certain limitations (Job 1:12; 2:6; Mt 4:10-11).

As the time for Jesus’ Second Coming approaches, the devil and his minions will be allowed to carry out more of their malicious deception upon the earth, even persuading large portions of the human population that will worship the devil.

It is very possible that a growing number of UFO sightings will be a part of the demonic deception, as more and more people become less and less biblically sound in what they theologically believe and then become more open to the paranormal, the occult, and “doctrines of demons” (1 Tim 4:1; Tim 4:1-4; Rev 9:20; 13:4, 12; 14:9, 11; 16:2; 19:20).

In summary, God created everything and everyone that exists in the physical universe without exception (Jn 1:3; Rom 11:36; Eph 3:9; Col 1:16; Rev 4:11).

Human beings, angels, and some creatures before the throne of God in heaven (Rev 4:6) comprise all the personable, intelligent creatures that God has created for the express purpose of communicating, worshiping, and adoring God, with humans created in God’s image at the pinnacle of God’s creation.

UFOs, or those who command them, are created, either by God or secondarily by other creatures, whether by man or by angels.

Holy angels do not create space vehicles to wow humans into ultimately committing idolatry against God.

It is entirely within the scheme of evil angels or demons to influence men to create such vehicles for the express purpose of duping humans to committing idolatry.

Given the occult nature of UFOs, UFOs are either manmade or demonic in origin. There are no other alternatives.

In the next article I’ll explain why UFOs cannot be from another galaxy in the universe, if they are as advanced in knowledge as some dreamers on earth claim that they are or should be.
