Will Smith is Sorry, Alright

In case you missed it, a couple of nights ago, actor Will Smith got up on stage at the Academy Awards and physically assaulted comedian Chris Rock with an open-handed smack upside the head.

Why? Because Rock was telling a joke in reference to Smith’s wife, Jada.

Then, Smith sat back down and verbally assaulted Rock with a series of “f-bombs.”

It was an ugly spectacle, and really the only half-interesting part about the whole Awards debacle.

You see, what was once a highly anticipated night to award some of the worlds top actors has digressed into a classless gathering of self-righteous narcissists, who think that it’s their right to preach their moronic nonsense about whatever might be wafting through their degenerate minds at any given moment, upon receiving their awards, should someone actually be stupid enough to select them.

In this instance, Smith took the next step down the road to stupidity by putting force to his words and slapping Rock.

The charade reminded me of what Jesus said about the words we say and the actions we take, and how everyone will give an account of both when we stand in judgment before none other than Jesus.

Jesus said, “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matt 12:34).

In other words, using gutter lingo stems from the overflow of a gutter heart.

Jesus would follow with, “But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander” (Matt 15:18-19).

Again, in other words, evil actions are preceded by evil strategizing within the mind of the person who carries out the act.

Finally, Jesus assures us that all the gutter talk, contemplation, and activity will come to a head one day to the chagrin of so many who believe no one is going to hold them absolutely accountable.

He said, “I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned” (Matt 12:36).

What needs to be learned from this latest, stupid, Hellyweird saga, that has “shocked” so many, is to be very careful with what you say.

For what you say is reflective of what resides within your heart, and Jesus is listening and is going to judge every word and action taken.

The irony in Will Smith’s case is that The Rock is going to “slap” him one day, as well as everyone like Smith, and Jesus won’t be joking when He does.
